EUROPEAN COMMISSION REFUSED EU MEMBERSHIP TO TURKEY
The European Commission did not include Turkey in the list of the ten countries, which it considers more prepared to enter the European Union in 2004. This was declared at the session of the European Commission in Brussels. The Commission considers serious problems with human rights protection as the main reason of reluctance to see Turkey as part of the EU. The list of the countries that have real grounds to claim for EU membership includes Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Cyprus and Malta.
