In January 2010, the United States imported 950 000 barrels of oil from Azerbaijan against 2.1 mln barrels in January 2009, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

In 2009, the U.S. imported 27.5mln barrels of oil from Azerbaijan against 26.8 mln barrels in 2008. In 2007 and 2006, 20.6 mln 9.7 mln barrels were imported, Vesti.Az reported.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is the major export route to deliver Azerbaijani oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
