Turkey digesting Armenian coalition decision

Turkey is considering further steps to take after Armenia's ruling coalition announced the decision to halt ratification of Protocols on normalization of bilateral relations, a Turkish diplomat said.

“We are evaluating the content of this statement and what it means legally and politically,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Burak Ozugergin told AFP.

“In this context, we are also discussing steps that could be taken in the coming period,” he added, without elaborating, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

In their statement earlier Thursday, three parties forming the majority in Armenia's parliament accused Turkey of refusal to ratify the Protocols "without preconditions and in a reasonable timeframe."

The coalition rates as unacceptable the latest statements by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who keeps linking ratification of Armenian-Turkish Protocols to resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict
