Amberin Zaman: Armenia will not leave Karabakh similarly to Turkey not withdrawing troops from Cyprus

By appointing Ahmet Davutoglu as Foreign Minister, Turkish diplomacy has attained considerable results at the international arena, but the normalization process with Armenia appeared as the only blunder of the Foreign Minister, according to Turkish journalist Amberin Zaman.

Commenting on Armenia-Turkey Protocols, she said that the documents contained no stipulations on Azerbaijan or Karabakh. “If Protocols aimed to force Armenia into ceding its position on Karabakh, the results suggest the aim was not accomplished: Armenia froze the Protocols,” the Turkish journalist stated.

As she noted, Yerevan will not yield until Karabakh status is determined.

“Armenia will not leave Karabakh, similarly to Turkey not withdrawing troops from Cyprus,” Amberin Zaman concluded in her article published by Haber Turk.
