Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the country does not recognize parliamentary election in Nagorno Karabakh.

He also rejected reports that Iran has sent an observer for the election, saying that, "nobody has taken part in Nagorno Karabakh parliamentary poll as Iranian observer."

Meanwhile, the Azeri Press Agency (APA) ascribed to Mr. Mehmanparast the words he never uttered. According to the report circulated by APA, the spokesman allegedly described Nagorno Karabakh “as Azerbaijani territory.” “We condemn any aggression against Azerbaijan and support this country in Karabakh issue,” Mr. Mehmanparast allegedly said.
