Russian-Turkish relations can’t affect Russia’s attitude to Armenia

Russian-Turkish relations can’t affect Russia’s attitude to Armenia, according to Leonid Reshetnikov, director of the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies (RISS).

“Moscow and Ankara enjoy excellent economic relations. We also develop political cooperation,” he told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

At that he emphasized that “Armenia is our ally while Azerbaijan and Turkey are our strategic partners.”

Dwelling on the Karabakh conflict, Reshetnikov said it’s a issue to be settled by Armenia and Azerbaijan. As to the use of force in resolving conflicts, he noted, “Georgian President did not want a peaceful resolution, so he lost Abkhazia and South Ossetia forever. Saakashvili had gone phut. But let’s not compare him to Aliyev. We will just hope that reason will dominate in this case.”
