Yerkir Europe organization sends letter to French President Nicolas Sarkozy

Yerkir Europe Armenian organization of France sent a letter to the French President on facts of violation of the rights of Armenians by the Georgian authorities.

With respect to Georgian President Saakashvili’s official visit due June 7-8, 2010, Yerkir Europe Armenian organization of France (www.yerkir.eu, headquartered in Lyons) sent a letter to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, presenting facts of discriminative policy of the Georgian authorities towards Javakheti Armenians.

Specifically, the letter draws attention to the political outrage of the Georgian authorities against Javakheti politician Vahagn Chakhalyan and his conviction to 10 years of imprisonment on fabricated charges, Yerkir Union said to PanARMENIAN.Net.

The letter goes on saying that the situation of Armenians in Georgia raises greater concerns of French Armenians. Thus, Yerkir Europa urged the French President to apply to his Georgian counterpart to terminate the policy of Javakheti Armenians’ rights violation and immediately release Vahagn Chakhalyan.
