Belgian government determines amount of subsidy for cyclotron construction in Armenia

Belgian government has determined the amount of subsidy for construction of a cyclotron in Armenia.

“The program will cost around 7-8 million euro. 5 million is the cost of cyclotron while 2-3 million will be spent on construction works in the territory of Yerevan Physics Institute,” said Bekor Papazyan, executive director of Armenia’s National Competitiveness Foundation.

He informed that the credit will be issued with 13-year maturity period, with 3-year grace period.

“According to preliminary data, the cyclotron will be put into operation in 2012, thus allowing Armenia to take regional leadership in radioisotope production and export,” Papazyan said.
