Iranologist Sevak Sarukhanyan said that this time Iran will not be able to avoid sanctions of the West. As the UN Security Council member-states, which have the right of veto, including Russia and China, support adoption of a new resolution of the UN Security Council, it means that the sanctions against Iran will be approved immediately, Sarukhanyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

“Currently Russia is also concerned over the Iranian nuclear program. The mutual understanding between Moscow and the West with respect to this may lead to establishment of a strategic cooperation on issues of international security,” stressed Sarukhanyan.

The UN Security Council resolution on Iran is ready to be put to vote. The document calls on all UN member-states to be watchful with respect to remittances with participation of Iranian banks. According to the resolution authors, this will prevent support to the Iranian nuclear program.

The new resolution on Iran was drafted, as Tehran failed to define within six months when it will be able to resume negotiations with the world community. The last report of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Iran reads that Tehran does not secure the required level of cooperation to confirm a peaceful nature of its nuclear program. Meanwhile, Tehran does not agree with this statement.
