On June 9, the Armenian National Assembly discussed a package of bills on introduction of amendments to the RA Laws on Education and Language. Presenting the legislative initiative of the government, Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan said that the amendments are needed for introduction of international programs in schools and establishment of foreign language schools in Armenia.

According to Ashotyan, education at these schools will start from the 7th class. “In other words, school students will be attending Armenian schools until the seventh class, after which they will have the opportunity to enter foreign language schools,” said Ashotyan.

The Minister noted that under the package of bills, the total number of foreign language schools will make 15. “But these schools will not be established on the basis of existing educational institutions of Armenia and will not be financed by the government,” stressed Ashotyan.
