Latvian Armenians to press for Genocide recognition by Saeima

The Armenian community of Latvia will press for Genocide recognition by Saeima.

“We will organize various events and engage youth in our activity,” chairman of the community, editor and publisher of Ararat newspaper Alexander Geronyan said in an interview with Miasin.Ru.

“Young Armenian people in Latvia are not unified, although a Youth Union was formed recently,” he said.

Asked about Armenian language study, Mr. Geronyan said that an Armenian Sunday school, which had functioned in Riga since 1988, closed 5 years ago.

“We are planning to reopen it at the Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church,” he said.
