Guenter Bretschneider: 600 foreign rescuers to participate in Armenia 2010 exercise

One of the goals of Armenia 2010 exercise is to demonstrate solidarity with NATO member and partner countries, said Guenter Bretschneider, Head of Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC).

“This exercise will show what kind of assistance foreign countries can render to Armenia in case of disaster,” he said, adding that around 600 foreign rescuers will arrive in Armenia in September.

Asked whether Turkey and Azerbaijan will take part in the event, Mr. Bretschneider said that Turkey is expected to send 4 representatives.

“Azerbaijan won’t send any,” he said.
