On June 25, Speaker of the Armenian parliament Hovik Abrahamyan met with Austrian delegation led by Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger.

Mr. Abrahamyan expressed hope that the Minister’s visit will serve as a new stimulus for the development of inter-parliamentary relations with Austria. Attaching importance to the activity of the Austrian parliamentary group for South Caucasus, the Armenian Speaker offered to create parliamentary groups of bilateral cooperation. Besides, Abrahamyan stressed the necessity of stirring up cooperation within PACE, OSCE PA and Euronest.

The Speaker noted that Armenia is interested in the development of trade, economic, cultural, scientific and educational ties with Austria.

For his part, Michael Spindelegger stressed that Austria attaches importance to boosting relations with Armenia, what is proved by the organization of the Armenian-Austrian business-forum in Yerevan.

The parties referred to the Armenian-Turkish normalization and Karabakh conflict settlement, saying that the conflict should be resolved peacefully through negotiations within the OSCE Minsk Group.

Besides, Mr. Abrahamyan confirmed his invitation addressed to President of the Austrian National Council Barbara Prammer to pay an official visit to Armenia, the RA NA press service reported.
