MOST PARLIAMENTARY FRACTIONS WELCOME LETTING AMERICAN WAR-PLANES PASS THROUGH ARMENIAN AIRSPACE
As reported by "Arka" agency, today during the briefing at the National Assembly leader of "Law and Unity" Artashes Geghamian stated the decision of the Armenian authorities was correct. "If Armenia did not let use its airspace, it would mean following double standards as before, which is inadmissible for the political life of the country," - he said. At the same time the Communist Party refrained from concrete statements in this respect. As member of the fraction of the Communist Party of Armenia, Chairman of the Parliamentary commission on health protection, ecology and social issues Gagik Tadevosian, noted "it is necessary to combat terrorism, but one should not ignore the geopolitical situation in which Armenia finds itself being surrounded by Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan." In Communist Party's Fraction other member Khoren Sargsian's opinion, "letting U.S. into Armenian airspace can bring to severe consequences for such a small country like ours." Leader of the fraction of "Dashnaktsutyun" party Aghvan Vardanian in his turn considers Armenia should join the struggle against international terrorism "but not to the detriment of its own interests."
