Sharmazanov: Erdogan’s latest statement on Karabakh is an evidence of Turks' stubbornness

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement regarding Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process during a meeting with Barack Obama on the sidelines of G8 is an evidence of Turks' stubbornness, secretary of the Republican Party of Armenia said.

“Turkey should understand that it can never meddle with the Karabakh process,” Eduard Sharmazanov told journalists on June 29.

He also slammed Erdogan’s accusations that in 2005 President Robert Kocharian “did not respond to his proposal to form a commission of historians to study the Armenian Genocide issue” as groundless.

“The Armenian side has always stated that such issues should be discussed by governments. The fact of Armenian Genocide can be a topic of discussion and Armenia will continue its policy calling for worldwide recognition of this crime against humanity,” Sharmazanov said.
