Director of Golden Apricot international festival Harutyun Khachatryan said that the lack of cinema theaters is among basic problems related to cinema in Armenia. The Office of Yerevan Mayor promised to provide a new building for cinema school, Khachatryan told a press conference on June 29.

"Hopefully, we will celebrate its opening soon," he said.

According to him, new cinema theaters should be opened to host lectures each weekend to prepare audience for cinema festivals.

Khachatryan also noted that the interest towards the Armenian cinema continues growing worldwide, despite prevailing opinion. "3-4 Armenian films are submitted to European and US festivals annually," concluded Khachatryan.
