Armenian community of Lebanon watching Lebanese-Turkish thaw

The Armenian community of Lebanon closely watches the Lebanese-Turkish thaw.

“Ankara’s policy on Gaza helped Turkey appear as a protector of Islamic countries,” said Sarkis Kirakosian, community representative. “These efforts had an impact on political and economic relations between Turkey and Lebanon.”

Dwelling on the life of the Armenian community, he said that Armenians are engaged in social and political activities. “There are Armenian schools, associations and churches. We strongly oppose mixed marriages in an effort to preserve the Armenian identity,” he said.

Asked to comment on the activity of the RA Diaspora Ministry, Kirakosian said it should coordinate actions with the organizations and traditional Armenian parties of Diaspora.
