Five teams represented Russia at international sambo tournament in Armenia

On July 18, the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Yerevan hosted a meeting with the Russian sambo team, which participated in the first international youth sambo tournament dedicated to Double Hero of the USSR, pilot Nelson Stepanyan.

The Russian team was represented by 31 sportsmen from five Russian cities – Armavir, Yaroslavl, Orenburg, Sochi and Yekaterinburg.

Meanwhile, Armavir team led by coach Voskan Poghosyan won the biggest number of medals at the tournament among Russian teams – one bronze, three silver and four gold medals, Rossotrudnichestvo representation in Armenia told PanARMENIAN.Net.

Armenia’s team was the first with 30 medals in the team competition, followed by Russia - 12 medals.

Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo representation in Armenia Victor Krivopuskov congratulated sportsmen on successful participation in the tournament.
