ARF Dashnaktsutyun believes that it is time to review philosophy of Karabakh conflict settlement

Head of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group Vahan Hovhannisyan said that the recent statement of the Heads of Delegation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries contained a positive element for Armenia.

Specifically, it clearly told Azerbaijan that a separate provision of document on the Karabakh conflict resolution should not be withdrawn from it to be presented as a basic provision, Hovhannisyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to Hovhannisyan, if the OSCE Minsk Group does not clarify the Madrid document, Armenia will be in an unenviable situation, as Armenia prioritizes the status of NKR, while Azerbaijan – surrender of territories. “This is a result of concessions' policy of Armenian first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, which was continued by next administrations,” noted Hovhannisyan.

“If the first Armenian authorities were not inclined to concessions, the Karabakh conflict settlement would have proceeded in the legal and not political field. And it is time to review the past to prevent similar mistakes,” said Hovhannisyan.

He added that any settlement of the Karabakh conflict – through political, legal or military methods- supposes a new policy inside Armenia. “Today’s Armenia, with its hyper monopolized economy, clan system of governance, is not ready for new solutions of the Karabakh conflict,” concluded Hovhannisyan.
