Works on reconstruction of Tatev monastery to be launched in 2011

Head of Tatev Revival project Vanik Vardanyan said that the project is a good example of cooperation between the state and private sectors.

“Tatev Revival project is a comprehensive program at the amount of $45mln aimed at development of national tourism. Meanwhile, $20mln out of this sum has been allocated by benefactors – Fund of Ruben and Veronica Vardanyans and their friends – and a relevant business-program has been developed to attract the rest of this sum,” Vardanyan said during a media-tour organized by the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia.

According to Vardanyan, the project includes construction of the ropeway, which will be completed on October 16. He added that the state participates in Tatev Revival project and will repair the road from the arterial highway to the ropeway station and Tatev monastery.

“The state participates in creation and development of infrastructures,” noted Vardanyan.

A PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reported from Tatev that, as part of the project implementation, Tatev monastery will be reconstructed. The reconstruction works will be launched in 2011 and completed by 2013.

“The estimated cost of the monastery reconstruction totals $10mln,” said Vanik Vardanyan
