U.S. Secretary of State extends her gratitude to Cafesjian Center for Arts

In a letter to Director of Administration, Acting Executive Director of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts Vahagn Marabyan, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton thanked the Center for hosting her meeting with Armenian civil society leaders.

“The center is a magnificent landmark and a wonderful symbol of Armenian-American cooperation. Our tour of the Cafesjian sculpture garden and the Chihuly gallery was one of the highlights of my visit to Yerevan”, reads the letter of Hillary Clinton.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited the Cafesjian Center for the Arts on July 5, 2010. In her honor, a glass sculpture by Sidney Hutter was placed on exhibit – similar to the one by the same artist, added to the White House Craft Collection in 1993. The sculpture, known as the White House Vase, is now in the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.

Secretary Clinton was delighted to see the sculpture from the Cafesjian Collection and commented to Mr. Marabyan on the wonderful exhibition space and how proud the Center must be for what it achieved.

Sidney Hutter’s sculpture remains on exhibit at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts and can be viewed in Gallery One at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts in Yerevan through August.

Following a tour of the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden and Gallery One, Mrs. Clinton met with civil society representatives at the Khanjyan Hall.
