Renewal of Armenia-Russia military agreement and conclusion of Azerbaijan-Turkey strategic partnership agreement suggest that U.S. is abandoning the region, expert Artak Shakaryan believes.

As he told a news conference in Yerevan, withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq has whipped Turkey to intensify activities in Middle East.

“U.S. citizens are unhappy with Barack Obama’s foreign policy. Next year, Obama will start preparations for the oncoming presidential elections. He will possibly initiate an isolation policy,” Shakaryan said.

“Currently, the EU is engaged in resolution of financial crisis-related issues, OSCE Minsk Group has slowed down activities and U.S. will soon abandon the region. Thus, the issue falls to the share of Turkey and Russia, who’re trying to redistribute their forces,” the expert concluded.
