EU won’t send parliamentary election observers to Azerbaijan

About 450 OSCE observers, of which 45 are long term, will monitor the upcoming parliamentary election in Azerbaijan, OSCE Baku Office Head Ali Bilge Cankorel said at the opening of training courses for the chairmen of district election commissions (DEC) on August 23, Trend News reported.

The parliamentary election will be held November 7, 2010 by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous election was held in November 2005.

“Besides OSCE, Council of Europe observers, as well as those from other international institutions will be monitoring the election. EU observers won’t be present,” Cankorel stated.
