Bako Sahakyan: AGBU has contributed significantly to development of Artsakh

On August 23, President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan met in Beirut with the leadership of the Armenian General Benevolent Union’s (AGBU) Lebanese branch.

On August 23, President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan met in Beirut with the leadership of the Armenian General Benevolent Union’s (AGBU) Lebanese branch.

Artsakh’s domestic and foreign policy and cooperation between the organization and Artsakh were in the focus of the meeting. The President noted that AGBU has contributed significantly to the development of Artsakh, underlining the necessity of transferring the cooperation into a new level with special emphasis on education sector.

Later the same day, President Sahakyan met with the leadership of the Lebanese Armenian Relief Cross organization. He congratulated the organization on the 80th anniversary of its foundation and noted that LARC has played a great role in the preservation of Armenian identity in Lebanon and provision of assistance to the Motherland.

The President noted that Artsakh is interested in establishing direct contacts with the Lebanese Armenian Relief Cross, what would serve as a new stimulus for boosting relations between the Armenian community of Lebanon and Artsakh.

Adviser to the NKR President Armen Isagoulov, Minister of Education and Science Vladik Khachatryan, Head of the Central Information Department of the NKR President's Office David Babayan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Artsakh to Lebanon Karo Kebabjyan, as well as Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lebanon Ashot Kocharyan participated in the meetings, the Central Information Department of the Artsakh President's Office reported.
