FAAE urges to disallow Russia’s supply of S-300 missile systems to Azerbaijan

Conclusion of Armenian-Russian agreements led to a new situation in South Caucasus, according to the head of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe (FAAE), Ashot Grigoryan.

As he noted, the oncoming visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Azerbaijan will make things clear.

Dwelling on the possibility of Russia’s supplying S-300 missile systems to Azerbaijan, Grigoryan remarked on Russia’s refusal to either decline or confirm the information.

“Turkish Prime Minister lobbied for conclusion of a deal, along with Azerbaijan. Pro-Armenian forces are waging a serious struggle against S-300 supply, which can influence Russia’s decision to be announced in months to come. In current circumstances, we can’t help but feel surprised at Armenian authorities’ reconciliation policy and society’s composure,” he said.

FAAE representatives urge Armenian community leaders, government and society to disallow Russia’s supply of S-300 missile systems to Azerbaijan, demanding respect for the interests of Armenia as an important strategic partner.
