TWB-initiated Travel without Borders project consists of six stages and is dedicated to opening of the ropeway leading to Tatev monastery, of project, said Areg Nazaryan, Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Traveler Armenia.

According to him, the project includes an international rally via Russia-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkey-Georgia-Armenia route, international regatta of sailing vessels in Lake Sevan and a horse race along the Armenian segment of the Silk Road.

“The only problem with the rally can be Russian participants’ entrance to the territory of Iran or Georgia,” Nazaryan noted.

Besides, an open-air rock and bike festival will be organized as part of the project. It will kick off in Akhtala to be continued on the bank of lake Sevan and completed at Jermuk airport.

An international conference with participation of representatives of Washington office and all 14 offices of National Geographic Traveler will be held.

According to Nazaryan, the project costs $350 000. The Armenian government will allocate AMD 27.6mln for organization of the international conference and OSCE will render financial assistance to the rock festival.

The project is endorsed by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. It is implemented through the assistance of the RA Ministry of Economy, Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Diaspora, National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia, OSCE and embassies of various countries.
