Talks on Turkey held in Yerevan

Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) together with Istanbul-based Global Political Trends Center (GPoT) and with funding from USAID launched a series of workshops for Armenian and Turkish journalists covering history, culture and political structures of modern Armenia and Turkey.

Following the opening ceremony, two invited Turkish experts, Zafer Yoruk, Lecturer of Media and Politics at Izmir University of Economics, and Behlul Ozkan, Lecturer of Foreign Policy at Bogazici University in Istanbul, delivered a lecture titled “Nuts-and bolts of Turkish domestic politics: the mechanisms, the power, the party system.”

15 Armenian journalists from leading news agencies, TV, radio, print and Internet-based outlets will have and opportunity to listen to ten thematic lectures on Turkey delivered by Turkish experts.

“This is not a training for journalists. Such an exercise contributes to Armenian-Turkish dialogue in addition to learning each other,” said Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan, EPF Country Director.

On September 20-22, Armenian experts will travel to Istanbul to conduct similar workshops for a group of 15 Turkish journalists representing leading Turkish media outlets.
