Turkish parliament speaker discusses Armenian Genocide issue in Canada

Turkish parliament speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin, who is currently in Canada to hold a series of talks with the country’s leadership, referred to the Armenian Genocide issue during a meeting with the speaker of Canada’s Senate, Noel Kinsella.

Sahin told his Canadian counterpart that “parliaments are not authorized to make judgments on historical matters.”

For his part, speaker Kinsella noted that the protocols signed by Turkey and Armenia in October 2009 was a serious step towards normalization of relations between the two countries, the Anatolia news agency reported.
