The recently signed protocol on extension of the terms of Russian military base deployment in Armenia is an important document, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia said.

As to Azerbaijan’s resolution on Karabakh submitted to the UN General Assembly, Rafik Petrosyan said “it’s a ridiculous document.”

“With this move, Azerbaijan demonstrated complete despair. Ilham Aliyev behaves stupidly,” he said at a joint news conference with Heritage parliamentary group secretary Larisa Alaverdyan.

Alaverdyan, for her part, remarked that laughter is inappropriate in the situation. “The matter concerns an international document that may be adopted by the UN General Assembly,” she said.

Commenting on Heritage’s draft bill on recognition of Artsakh Republic’s independence, Petrosyan noted that its adoption “may hamper the process in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.”

“We would like the bill to be included in the parliament’s agenda. The terms of recognition of NKR’s independence is another matter,” Alaverdyan emphasized.
