Congressman Ron Klein supports Armenian Genocide Resolution

Members of the Armenian-American Action Committee of Florida (ARAMAC-FL) met with Congressman Ron Klein (D-FL) in his district office to review a wide range of Armenian issues, and discuss the urgency in passing H. Res. 252, the Armenian Genocide resolution, reported the Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly).

ARAMAC-FL Palm Beach Chair Dr. Henry Sarafian-Petraki stated that "Congressman Klein is a true public servant who cares about the issues concerning his constituency.”

“The South Florida Armenian community is grateful to have such a leader representing us in Washington," he said.

Congressman Klein is currently serving his 2nd term representing the 22nd district of Florida. He sits on the Financial Services Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee, which approved H. Res. 252 earlier this year. Rep. Klein voted in favor of the bill.

"America must lead by example and condemn genocide wherever and whenever it occurs," stated Rep. Klein. He continued, "I look forward to joining the Armenian-American community and all Americans who oppose senseless violence and genocide in advancing this important cause."

H. Res. 252 enjoys the bipartisan support of 143 Members of Congress and was adopted by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, under the leadership of Chairman Howard Berman (D-CA).

The next step in the legislative process is for a vote by the full House of Representatives. With only a few weeks left before Congress adjourns before the November midterm elections, the Assembly urges Congress to act on H. Res. 252 and reaffirm America's commitment to human rights and genocide prevention.
