Nalbandian beaten by Monfils in Davis Cup semifinal

Gael Monfils gave France a commanding 2-0 lead over Argentina in the Davis Cup semi-finals with an impressive four-set defeat of David Nalbandian, BBC reports.

Monfils won 6-2 2-6 6-4 6-3 in Lyon after team-mate Michael Llodra earlier beat Juan Monaco 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-3.

“This is a fabulous experience,” Monfils said, quoted by tennisty. “I started to play with the France team when I was a 12 or 13-year-old boy and I dreamt about the Davis Cup. Now, doing this in a semifinal… Today I played one of my best three matches this year.”

“Gael served better than I did and it made the difference,” Nalbandian said. “I didn’t serve well. What disturbs me in his game is mainly his serve. And he is also very sharp when he is attacking.”
