Alexander Iskandaryan: there are zero prospects for Karabakh conflict settlement

There are zero prospects for Karabakh conflict settlement, according to the director of Caucasus Institute in Yerevan, political expert Alexander Iskandaryan.

As he told a news conference in Yerevan, it’s unlikely that Yerevan’s recognition of Karabakh independence should affect superpower’s position on the issue. “Armenia’s recognition of NKR independence can jeopardize the peaceful settlement of the conflict,” he said.

Commenting on Armenia’s refraining from recognition of the independence of Kosovo, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Iskandaryan stated that Yerevan’ considers Russia-West relations in adhering to its current position.

The political expert characterized Iranian President’s speech, labeling US as a “bad guy” as the main intrigue in UN General Assembly session. He pointed out President Obama’s reaffirmation of US support for OSCE MG efforts among the highlights of Obama –Aliyev meeting in New York.
