Ban Ki-moon: withdrawal of snipers will strengthen truce between Karabakh and Azerbaijan

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

At the request of the UN General Secretary, Mr. Nalbandian briefed on recent trends in the Karabakh conflict settlement, the RA MFA press service reported.

Ban Ki-moon noted that he supports the withdrawal of snipers from the contact line, what will considerably strengthen the truce between the parties to the conflict. Edward Nalbandian said he is of the same opinion, expressing hope that Azerbaijan will accept the offer made repeatedly.

Referring to developments around the Armenian-Turkish normalization within a year, Nalbandian expressed gratitude to Ban Ki-moon for the UN's unbiased assistance in this process.

Edward Nalbandian left New York for Boston to deliver a speech at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and to meet with representatives of the Armenian community there.
