Armenia needs a culture policy developed at the highest level, according to Gagik Ginosyan, director of Karin song and dance ensemble.

“Culture is the main factor for preservation of national identity,” he told a news conference on September 27.

“Armenian Prime Minister’s support to a jazz festival evidences of his priorities. Former President Robert Kocharian used to invite his guests to a jazz club. Should these high-ranking guests be invited to a concert of Komitas or Khachaturian’s works, our Ministers, as a habit, will follow them,” Ginosyan said.

He also noted that modern Armenian show business can lead to extermination of national culture.
