Swiss MPs support Karabakh settlement based on right of nations to self-determination

Armenian delegation members led by parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan arrived in Bern, where they were met by Armenian Ambassador to Switzerland, Charles Aznavour.

The delegation includes head of Armenia-Switzerland friendship group Ara Babloyan and deputy chairman of parliamentary committee on economic affairs Vardan Bostanjyan.

During a meeting with the members of Switzerland-Armenia friendship group, speaker Abrahamyan thanked the Swiss National Council for adoption of the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

The group members noted that the visit will help strengthen cooperation between the parliament of the two countries.

In discussion of the Karabakh issue, they voiced support to conflict settlement based on the right of nations to self-determination.

As a part of the visit, speaker Abrahamyan also met with Micheline Calmy-Rey, Switzerland’s Foreign Minister, Erika Forster-Vannini, speaker of the Council of States and Pascale Bruderer Wyss, speaker of the National Council.
