On September 30, a cross was hoisted on the dome of Holy Cross church in Akhtamar island, Turkey.

“I got this news from a source in Van. There is no official confirmation to this fact,” expert Ruben Melkonyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

The island is closed on October 1; an event dedicated to placement of the cross will be held on October 2, with participation of coadjutor of the Constantinople Patriarchate of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Aram Ateshyan and Van governor Munir Karaloglu.
