Tigran Sargsyan: Armenia to considerably increase wheat production by 2014

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited Masis town to observe unloading of 1,000t of wheat seeds imported from Russia.

The Prime Minister found out opinion of professionals in agriculture about the wheat quality on site, the RA Government’s press service reported.

Tigran Sargsyan said that the imported seeds will help to increase recultivation of both wheat and seeds, strengthening the country’s food security and self-sufficiency of wheat production.

It is foreseen that Armenia will be able to considerably increase wheat production volume by 2014, resulting in decrease of import volumes and dependence on international prices.

“As a result of the program, which we will be implementing for five years, we will get qualitative improvements in agriculture,” said Sargsyan.
