Turkey’s accession to OSCE MG a positive change, Canadian expert believes

Involvement of influential and unbiased mediators is essential in achieving real results on Karabakh conflict settlement, according to David Harries, the executive director of Foresight Canada strategic center.

“Progress in peaceful negotiations requires presence of a mediator “without a load”, yet with enough knowledge and experience to resolve the burning issues. Any high-level mediation will cause controversies, adherence to own interests and partiality.”

The expert characterized Turkey’s accession to OSCE MG as a positive change in the Group’s format. “Today’s Turkey, with its influence and political activity, as well as through partnership with NATO, can offer more that France, Russia and U.S. can or want to offer.”

"My model of developing the situation in the world security is to be honest and conduct a direct dialogue," Trend News cited Harries as saying.
