The Episcopal Council of the Roman Catholic Church of Middle East was summoned in Vatican on the initiative of Pope Benedict XVI.

The event brought together 185 Cardinals from 17 countries as well as representatives of the Eastern Orthodox Church .

Head of the Damascus Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Bishop Armash Nalbandian was also participating, reported the information service of the Holy See of Mother Etchmiadzin.
