Member of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group, member of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Ara Nranyan said that for the past several years Armenia faced two challenges – the Armenian-Turkish relations and financial-economic crisis. And they reflect all omissions in the country’s foreign policy and economy, Nranyan told journalists.

He stressed that the failure in the Armenian-Turkish normalization has forced Armenians to return to the real political field. “Armenia, as a country, and Armenians, as a nation, should be competitive in the global opposition of peoples. Unfortunately, we view our country’s competitiveness only in comparison with the three South Caucasian states. This will lead us to a deadlock, what will hamper the country’s economic, political and social development,” said Nranyan.

He believes that the country’s competitiveness should comprise of three directions. First, it is the strengthening of democracy. Second, it is the rehabilitation of the national guideline: “Cooperation with other countries should not mean concessions at the expense of our own interests. To the contrary, it should create a platform for own interests protection.” Third, it is the economic factor. “We do nothing for the next generation. The situation in Armenia will change as soon as there is a generation, which is ready to sacrifice itself for the good of next generations,” concluded Nranyan.
