A meeting between Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, presumably scheduled for Friday, October 15, was cancelled.
No details are provided. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s anti-Israeli statements in Bint Jbeil are named as possible reason behind the meeting cancellation, ITAR-TASS reported quoting Al Jazeera.
Earlier reports said that the Iranian President may extend his visit to Lebanon by another day because Turkish Prime Minister is due to arrive in the country. Diplomats said a trilateral meeting between Iranian, Lebanese and Turkish leaders could be scheduled.
