Armenian MPs travel expenses to be increased next year

Armenian Deputy Minister Pavel Safaryan said that the revised personnel policy influenced the 2011 government budget.

“Reduction in the government payroll of 250 positions in legislative, executive and judicial agencies is envisaged,” Safaryan told a joint sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Financial, Credit and Budgetary Affairs and Committee on State Legal Affairs.

“The move was taken for more efficient management, but not as a result of financial difficulties,” the Armenian Deputy Minister of Finance said, adding that it is better to have smaller number of professional employees and pay them higher salary, than on the contrary.

Presenting the 2011 RA National Assembly budget, Chief of the RA NA Staff Gegham Gharibjanyan said for his part that all Armenian parliamentarians will be provided with computers next year. “Besides, travel expenses will be increased by AMD 106mln, as parliamentary diplomacy has considerably intensified,” he said.
