Armenia is 101st in Press Freedom Index 2010 published by Reporters Without Borders

Reporters Without Borders international human rights organization has published Press Freedom Index 2010. Armenia is the 101st on the list.

Armenia has improved its index by 27.5 points, going up from the 111th place in 2009. Six European countries – Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland - top the list. “These six countries set an example in the way they respect journalists and news media and protect them from judicial abuse,” reads the document.

Georgia is the 100th, being only one place ahead of Armenia. Azerbaijan is the 152nd (146th in 2009), deteriorating its index by 56.38 points, while Iran is the 175th on the list.
