No decrease of fixed connection tariffs envisaged in Armenia

Dmitri Kromski, VimpelCom Vice-President for Business Development in CIS countries spoke about the worldwide tendency for gradual reduction of revenues from fixed connection tariffs.

“Part of the voice transmission services will be implemented via internet, which increases the importance of internet availability in the regions,” he told a news conference in Yerevan.

ArmenTel Director General Igor Klimko explained the reduction of revenues by the replacement of fixed connection with mobile network and IP technologies. “No decrease of fixed connection tariffs is envisaged in Armenia, as reduction would disallow us to cover investments into the development of the connection in question,” according to ArmenTel Director General.

Automatic telephone system digitization has almost been completed in Yerevan, with the process fully finalized in Armavir.
