Armenian, Azeri political experts develop road map for Karabakh conflict settlement

A joint statement on a road map for Karabakh conflict settlement was adopted as a result of 3-day discussions of expert groups led by editor- in- chief of 3rd view Azeri information analytical agency Rauf Rajabov and Armenian political expert Stepan Grigoryan.

“A joint statement on Karabakh conflict was adopted as a result of working session hosting Armenian-Azeri expert groups for development of new approach to conflict settlement,” Rajabov stated.

The document stresses that negotiations for Karabakh conflict settlement, which became intensified within the last 2 years, have not yet exhausted themselves.

The statement urges conflicting sides to express a unified position on Madrid principles, by joining declarations adopted by U.S., Russian and French Presidents in L'Aquila, Italy on July 10, 2009 and Canada on July 26, 2010. The document calls on both sides to confirm their adherence to 1949’s Geneva Conventions and 1977’s additional protocols.

A number of basic principles for Karabakh conflict settlement were offered, including mutual benefits, mutual dependence, the will of civil society, Novosti Azerbaijan reported.
