Director of Enterprise Incubator Foundation Bagrat Yengibaryan said that penetration of computer equipment to Armenia is not above 20%, according to preliminary data of a research by the foundation. This index is planned to be brought to minimum 50%, Yengibaryan told a press conference
According to him, Computers for Everyone state program will kick off in November 2010 throughout Armenia. 40 shops of computer equipment have been chosen to participate in the program. “Presentations will be organized for users,” said Bagrat Yengibaryan.
The World Bank has expressed willingness to finance the program at the amount of $3mln, if the organization approves the project. Negotiations are held also with Microsoft on provision of discounts for software under the program. At least 2 suppliers of computers are planned to participate in the program. Bagrat Yengibaryan said that Computers for Teachers, Computers for School Students will be launched soon as well.
