Executive Director of the Armenia National Committee of America (ANCA) Aram Hamparian said that the Armenian community of America, which consists of 1.5 million people, out of which more than 1 million are eligible due to age, citizenship, and registration to participate in elections, supports candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate based on their legislative track records, and irrespective of their party membership.

“The most important thing for us is to advance the views and values of the Armenian community and Armenia as a whole. We are endorsing 160 candidates in the November 2 elections,” Hamparian told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

He added that Armenian citizens of the U.S. are always active in voting and the upcoming elections are not exclusion. “Around 75% of the Armenian community generally turns out for elections, which is considerably more than the usual U.S. average of around 50%,” said Hamparian.

The 2010 United States midterm elections will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 37 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested in this election.
