The government of the Artsakh Republic has decided to rename Aghdam town as Akna.
Local administration representative Sergey Nasibekyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that Anka will have a status of a district and belong in Askeran.
Currently, Akna has about 360 residents. Founded in the 18th century, the 28-thousand town was completely destroyed during the Azerbaijani-Karabakh war in early 1990ies.
