Armenian church in Akhaltskha is another target of Georgia’s expansionist policy

Head of Yerevan office of Research on Armenian Architecture NGO Samvel Karapetyan said that the appropriation of Armenian churches is under way in Georgia. Now, the Georgian side has decided to transfer Yerevman Surb Khach (Holy Cross of Epiphany) Armenian church in Akhaltskha to Georgian Catholics and turn it into a center of Georgia’s Catholicism, Karapetyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

The specialist of the Armenian architecture noted that the Georgian authorities have started laying claims to the Armenian church since last year. Recently they have fenced the church to launch construction works there.
