While less costly, locally-manufactured medicines do not yield to the imported ones in quality

Locally produced medicine makes up to 10-12% market share in Armenia, showing annual growth of 1-2%.

As the head of Armenian Drug Manufacturers and Importers Union Samvel Zakaryan told PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, low level of trust to Armenia-manufactured medicines was observed among local population. To repair the situation, awareness campaign was held in many Armenian cities starting June 2010.

“To be allowed into the market, our medicines undergo the same expert examination as imported ones. While less costly, locally-manufactured medicine does not yield to the imported one in quality,” Zakaryan remarked.

“Over the last year, approx. USD 5,2million worth of medicines was exported from Armenia, which proves the quality of our production,” he stressed.
